Alt-Country Star Denitia Brings Soulful Southern Sound to Fogartyville on April 3
SARASOTA, FL – Rising alt-country sensation Denitia is set to perform at Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center on Wednesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. as part of her 2024 tour. Known for her genre-blending sound and heartfelt songwriting, Denitia has been making waves on the country music scene and was recently named a 2024 CMT Next Woman of Country.
Originally from the outskirts of Houston, Texas, Denitia’s early musical influences include a mix of country legends, gospel, R&B, and alternative rock. She honed her craft in school choirs and by learning multiple instruments before moving to Nashville to attend college. Her musical journey also includes a decade spent in Brooklyn, where she further developed her unique voice before returning to her country roots.
Denitia’s 2022 album “Highways” was praised by NPR, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone for its introspective lyrics and alt-country sound, with NPR calling it “a gently twangy gem.” The album positioned her as a standout voice in the country-Americana world and earned her a residency with Black Opry and WXPN, as well as a spot in Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country Class of 2023.
In June 2023, Denitia made her Grand Ole Opry debut, marking a milestone in her fast-rising career.
She’s now touring in support of her latest album, “Sunset Drive,” described by Brooklyn Vegan as a continuation of her open-road storytelling—”picking up where ‘Highways’ left off and keeping on driving down that open road.”
