Owner George Generoso of the 5’OClock Club on Hilview Street in Sarasota is featuring a new schedule of live and DJ music as of mid-October. As fans and musicians are getting older and seeking earlier venues, George said the club has switched its line-up to a mix of live music from 6 – 8 p.m. and 9 – 12 p.m. on Friday nights, followed by a DJ 12:30 – 2 a.m. On Saturday night, enjoy a band from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, followed by a DJ until 2 a.m.
Still offering music seven nights a week, this decades-old drink ‘n dance destination continues Al Fuller Jam Nights on Mondays; Democracy on Thursdays; and a variety of rock, funk, blues, reggae and other genres of live music Tues., Wed., and Sun.
Other exciting news – George is commissioning an artist to render a Wall of Fame to celebrate the club’s history of jaw-dropping offerings and surprise appearances of international and local super stars. Brian Johnson (AC/DC), Dickie Betts, Dan Toler, Buddy Miles, Anne Summers, Tinsley Ellis, The Allman Brothers Band, Bruce Wabel, Twinkle, and Oswald (Democracy) are among the picks to be featured on the entrance wall, rendered from photographs George and the staff has taken throughout the years.
Smoking and quiet conversation is accommodated in the cozy open-air patio section of the club.
