WSLR Hosts Third Annual Cigar Box Festival

| Sande Caplin |

Justin Johnson, one of the world’s leading ambassadors for cigar box guitars and handmade roots instruments, will be the featured performer at WSLR’s Third Annual Cigar Box Festival on Saturday, November 26 at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center.

Justin Johnson has been hailed by Guitar World as a must-see act, dubbed “The Wizard” for his mastery of stringed instruments, and recognized as Slidestock International Slide Guitar Champion. Johnson is currently in the midst of a worldwide tour, in promotion of his groundbreaking double album, “Smoke & Mirrors,” the most comprehensive musical statement yet made about the art, history, and traditions behind Cigar Box Guitars and handmade Roots Instruments. Along the way, he offers educational workshops on the roots of American folk and blues music, in conjunction with his 3-part Instructional DVD series “Roots Music According to Justin Johnson.”

Also performing will be Steve Arvey CBB Band and David Smash. Throughout the Fogartyville grounds there will be an array of cigar box guitars, folk art, and food vendors.  Tickets are $15 in advance ($20 day of show) for the music portion of the event that starts at 7pm.  If you would like to attend the workshops from 4-6pm there will be an additional $10 charge.  Advance tickets are available at www.wslr.org.
