Oh my, what a Peach Bowl! One of the best bowl games I have ever seen. The underdog UCF Knights played a fabulous game and defeated the favorite Auburn Tigers, 34-27. It was a huge upset for the University of Central Florida, based in Orlando. The team finisted with an undefeated 13-0 record!
It was a very close first half with UCF leading 13-3. The second half started bad for UCF as Auburn scored 2 unanswered touchdowns to go ahead 20-13. UCF came back in the 3rd qtr. with a touchdown to tie the score. 4th qtr. was a nail biter with UCF scoring 2 unanswered TD’s and then Auburn came back with a TD with under 5 minutes left. It was a nail biter to the end as UCF missed a field goal and had one blocked.
UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton started slow in the first half but came on very strong in the second half finishing 16/35 and 2 TD’s. He also rushed for 116 yards and had a rushing touchdown.
It was the final game for coach Scott Frost who now moves on to be the head coach at the University of Nebraska. He has been doing double duty for the last month handling the head coaching affairs at Nebraska and also preparing UCF for the Peach Bowl. He did an awesome job and congrats.
Thanks UCF players, coaches and fans. What a great way to start the New Year.
