Thursday, December 3, 2015 was quite a night. For those who attended the packed house at the old “Ace’s Lounge” in Bradenton, Florida it was a night they will never forget. It was The Billy Rice Band Video Release Party!
Band members Al Marnie, Jack Elka, Gary Guzzardo, Rick Fass and Billy Rice performed all of their great originals. The highlight of the evening was when they performed their newly released video, “I’m Just Sayin’.”
Sande Caplin & Associates produced this video. It took six months to finish and was filmed at three different locations in our area: an airplane hangar at the SRQ Airport, Blenkers Marina and O’Brick’s Restaurant on Main Street in Bradenton.
Ace’s was the perfect place to show the video on a big screen, along with about a dozen other TV’s throughout the building. It was a really special evening. Ace’s was quite the music venue in Bradenton and over the years some of the best musicians locally and nationwide performed there. The folks around here really miss Ace’s.

At the present time The Billy Rice Band is doing what we are all doing, laying low and in quarantine. I hear that bass player Al Marnie and Billy have been video conferencing and are putting together some new songs. They are chomping at the bit and cannot wait to get back on stage and performing.
The band had been playing at several of the local seafood festivals on the SunCoast that were produced by Paragon Music Festivals. They had a regular Wednesday night gig at Mattison’s on the Riverwalk in Bradenton. They also played some private gigs for charity, etc.
