MCAS is Manatee County’s only open-admission shelter facility, taking in an average of 12 animals per day in 2019.  The mission of MCAS is to maintain public health and safety through the enforcement of laws and ordinances related to animals, to promote responsible pet ownership, promote adoptions, and reduce pet overpopulation.  For the 2019 calendar year, MCAS had a 95% save rate.

From the MCAS Website- Pet adoptions are processed on a first come basis. It’s possible that an animal listed may already be adopted when you visit the shelter. If you are interested in adopting a pet, please first fill out the online adoption application, which is where you can then make an appointment to visit the shelter. Please email adoptions@mymanatee.org for general inquiries or with the animal ID number to find out the current status of a pet.
