Sarasota Farmers Market Is Coming Back Strong!
We caught up with the very busy Sarasota Farmers Market Manager, Ciera Coleman at Paul Thorpe Park to talk a little bit about upcoming activities at the Market.
The Market closed in March 2020 with about 80 vendors in place and had a soft re-opening in August 2020 with 44 vendors. Ciera Coleman became manager of the Market in October 2020 and has been working diligently, rebuilding the Market. Vendors go through the interview process and are reviewed by the Board to decide if the vendor’s products are a good fit for the Market. Applications are available online.
Last year, one of the biggest fundraisers for the Market had to be cancelled. Taste of the Market could not meet the criteria for COVID 19 because of the large crowds it draws. The Market is hoping to host this great event once again in 2022.
This weekend, Sunday, March 7 is the deadline for the t-shirt design contest. Check the website for details. Be a part of the community by submitting your own design and a chance to win!
On March 27, the Market will host a new event – Sarasota Farmers Market Appreciation Day! The Mayor will read a proclamation and City officials will be honored for their support of the Market.
Remaining on the side of caution, the Market will host mini festivals throughout the remainder of the year…again, check in on the website for details and sign up for the Sarasota Farmers Market newsletter for all of the current news at the Market.
Be Safe. Stay Healthy. Make Good Choices.
The downtown market was founded in 1979 and has been a mainstay of Sarasota weekends ever since. Contact the Market about sponsorship!
