Our Experience With Delta-8 THC Gummies

| Rowan Langlery |

It seems like CBD gummies are everywhere these days, from the gas station to the grocery store. A lot of people have tried them, but today we are going to try something new. Delta-8 THC gummies are widely available, though not in as many places. Thus, we figured we should give them a try and tell our readers about the experience. There are some who fear that these products might be a little too intensely psychoactive, so let’s see if those fears are justified.

What Is Delta-8 THC?

Most people know that THC is the psychoactive ingredient in the Cannabis plant. To be more specific, however, that compound is called Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol. Delta-8 THC, on the other hand, is one of its closest relatives. Because it is not mentioned specifically in any laws or statutes, Delta-8 remains legal at present. Considering that most states are leaning toward full legalization of Cannabis, it is unlikely that Delta-8 will ever be banned.

You see, they never needed to ban Delta-8 in the past because the Cannabis plant only contains trace amounts. Thus, it would take an impractically large amount of plant material to get a small amount of Delta-8 in those days. However, there are now all kinds of new strains that have been selectively cultivated for high Delta-8 content. These flowers can then be turned into purified extracts with much greater efficiency than ever before.

Why Gummies?

We chose gummies for this little experiment because they can be enjoyed by anyone. Those with lung problems probably shouldn’t be smoking anything, and there are also those who don’t like the taste of Cannabis (even if they like its effects). However, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who hates gummy candies. They mask most of the taste and require minimal chewing. So, overall, this is probably the most pleasant and convenient way to enjoy your Delta-8.

The Experience

Several members of our staff took part in this experiment, and most of them reported similar results. About 30 minutes to an hour after taking the gummies, everyone began to feel a little different. The change was not drastic but was simply a feeling of relaxation. Those who had chronic pain issues reported that they were feeling a lot better, almost as if they had taken a mild painkiller. Many reported that it felt as if every muscle in their body was free of tension.

Several participants reported that it was much different from the “high” that is associated with Delta-9 THC. To be more specific, it produced a calmer and less erratic sort of feeling. If you are looking for an “active” kind of high, Delta-8 definitely delivers that. It probably wouldn’t be a good idea to drive a car while under the influence, but your clarity of mind will not be affected much at all. Large doses of CBD tend to impart a certain feeling of drowsiness, and the Delta-8 high is reminiscent of that.

The feeling that came from the Delta-8 might be described as complete and total relaxation without the feeling of being sedated. While medical sedatives tend to leave people feeling groggy and out of control, Delta-8 does none of that. None of our staff reported a significant level of mental fog. A few people did, however, fall asleep. That is significant because some people have reported that Delta-9 can interfere with normal sleep patterns.

The euphoric feeling wore off after a couple of hours, and you can probably guess what happened next. Yes, Delta-8 does sometimes give you the munchies. It wasn’t an intense kind of hunger, but you will probably want to eat after you come down from this experience. Other than the munchies, there don’t seem to be any after-effects at all. However, it is worth noting that the effects can sometimes last longer. Those who ate 10mg or more experienced a high that lasted for most of the day, though it tapered off towards the end.

Overall, this was not an intense kind of experience. If someone hadn’t known that we had eaten these gummies, they might have just assumed that we were a little on the lazy side. What we see here is a set of effects that reflect the chemical structure of Delta-8. It is very similar to Delta-9 but distinct in several ways. It does most of the same things but does them a lot more gently. Those who have experienced anxiety or paranoia from Marijuana use may find Delta-8 to be much more palatable.

Conclusion

Everyone reported that their Delta-8 experience was a positive one. The worst complaint that anyone made was that it might put you to sleep. Thus, you probably don’t want to eat these things when you have a lot of work to do. You also shouldn’t eat them if you are going to be driving anytime soon. Other than that, however, this is a very safe substance with very little potential for trouble. We hope that you can enjoy Delta-8 THC as much as we do.
