Lakewood Ranch / World Rowing Championships Mascot Night!

Lakewood Ranch / World Rowing Championships Mascot Night!

This Friday night (March 3rd), the 2017 World Rowing Championships and Lakewood Ranch Main Street are working together to bring some of the area’s most notable mascots to Music on Main for an evening of family fun and entertainment.

Beginning at 6:45 p.m., the mascots will pose for photos, sign autographs and mingle with the thousands of spectators expected to attend. At 7:00 p.m., the feathered, furry and scaly friends will put on their dancing shoes and go head-to-head in a dance-off.

The mascots attending include:

“Scully” the pelican (2017 World Rowing Championships)
“Cranky” the Crane (Lakewood Ranch)
The Oriole Bird (The Baltimore Orioles)
“Marty” the Marauder (The Bradenton Marauders)
The Cows (Fruitville Road Chick-fil-A)
“Justice” the Police K-9 (North Port Police Department)
“Koi” the Fish (The Fish Hole Miniature Golf Course)

Music on Main is a free concert series and block party for the public in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. The event is hosted on the first Friday of each month and supplies lots of fun for the entire family. The street is lined with food vendors, beer trucks and sponsor booths. Guests are welcome to bring chairs, but are asked to leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash.

From September 23 – October 1, 2017, the World Rowing Championships, an international rowing regatta organized by FISA (the World Rowing Federation), will be held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, the only Class A course in the United States and “where world-class athletes come to compete.” In the 48 years of the event’s existence, the United States has hosted only one other World Championships, in 1994 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This weeklong event is held at the end of the northern hemisphere summer. In non-Olympic years, it is the highlight of the international rowing calendar. Rowing takes place in 26 different boat classes for both men and women.
Our goal is to attract athletes, family, friends and fans from around the United States and the globe, to attend this world-class event, and grow the following of rowing in the US.
