Happy, Safe New Year’s Eve!

| Jodi Schwarzenbach |

As New Year’s Eve draws near, the most important aspect of the evening is not where you will be going, or even with whom you will spend your evening.  It is not what resolution you will begin or tradition you will participate in for New Year’s Day.  The part you need to secure now is your ride home.  For your safety, and that of everyone else, taking care of this pivotal aspect of the evening now will ensure the rest can follow.

The options for not having to drive on a night like New Year’s Eve are plentiful.  Many businesses who are vying for your holiday dollars are also offering alternatives to driving to keep everyone safe.  We wanted to put together some suggestions to help make your holidays safer and to highlight the great ideas and specials catering to those wanting to make this holiday safer than ever.

New Year’s Eve

Let’s start with the obvious player in your NYE ride plan, a designated driver.  Plan ahead with everyone in your party and agree on who is your driver.  Who is going to abstain from alcohol the entire evening for the benefit of all?  If that is not a possibility, the next choices can include Lyft Drive with Lyft – Become a Driver and Uber Explore the Uber Platform | Uber United States.  Plan ahead and order early so you know you are covered for the evening.  Depending on your area, several taxi companies in and around Sarasota are offering services on NYE too.  Many offer 24 hour services like Yellow Cab Executive Taxi Cabs Sarasota, FL | Yellow Cab Executive and Got a Taxi Sarasota Airport Transport, Airport Sedan Service FL.

If you are able and wanting to make the night extra special, a private car service would be fun.  Several limousine services offer unique vehicles, and more importantly, a driver to get you safely from one hotspot to the next.  Several hotels are hosting NYE parties with great deals on rooms so all you need to do is find the elevator and it’s a safe lights out from there.

New Year’s Eve

If you are on Anna Maria Island or Siesta Key, consider hopping on a trolley to get you from place to place.  A little fresh air on the in-betweens might just do you good.  And guess what, a house party with the family and a few friends is never a bad idea and always a wonderful time.  Get a fire going in the firepit and add some food and eats and you are all set to host an adult slumber party.

Whether you are watching the Pineapple Drop in Downtown Sarasota, enjoying a nice dinner on Anna Maria Island, seeing what Siesta has to offer, or just hanging low this NYE, we hope you’ll be safe and looking out for others straight into the New Year.  We wish a Happy and Safe New Years to all of our friends of The Suncoast Post!
