Happy Mother’s Day from The Swordfish Grill & Tiki
We here at the Swordfish Grill & Tiki wanted to reach out to our friends at The Suncoast Post to wish you all a very Happy Mother’s Day and to share a little more about our decisions regarding the re-opening for the restaurant, bar, and deck.
We are so honored that so many people are so antsy to see us open. Trust us, so are we! Our ultimate passion is bringing our community together. The safety and health of our Team, our guests, and our community is of the utmost importance to us, hence the choice to not allow inside dining just yet. And when the time is right we will of course share a detailed re-opening plan and definite date when things get a little closer with our team fully trained in all of the proper protocols and then some.
Not open for dine-in just yet
Swordfish Grill and Tiki will NOT be open for dine-in this Sunday, May 10th for Mother’s Day. We love you, and your mothers, which is why we’re holding out a bit to prevent breaking any social distancing rules even accidentally. My Mom is 81 years old and one of her favorite places to be is her spot at the tiki bar enjoying the beautiful FL weather, live music, and time with her friends. We want her, her friends, and everyone else to be able to come out and enjoy our restaurant freely as soon as comfortable. Which is why we’re taking the extra time to be extra safe. For our families, and for yours.

We’ve always had a reopening plan in motion. We moved our tables further apart and started seating at half capacity before it was even mandated. We’ve always been adamant on hygiene, sanitization, and hand-washing. We are tirelessly trying to educate ourselves on best practices. So, we’ll continue spending this little extra time apart for studying. Studying and learning from as many as we can, and leading continuous training for our employees. So that when we do re-open, we’ll be doing so in a way that will hopefully leave as little room for error, fear, or accident as possible.
Just yesterday, on a walk with my family through Cortez, we passed a friendly frequent patron. They asked if Swordfish was open yet, and when we answered back “not yet!”, they responded in a way that warmed our hearts. A simple “Can’t wait! Well, we’ll be here when you do!”
Take-out, curbside and dockside available
Because we don’t feel comfortable opening yet doesn’t mean you still can’t get your favorite Swordfish meals. Our take-out process has been steadily improving with each passing day. You can still enjoy sunsets from the beaches nearby and you can dance to live music from any of our regular music acts that are frequently streaming live on social media from the comfort of your own living room. You can still enjoy one of our Happy Hour extravaganzas, Crab Races, or have one of our signature cocktails as led by the members of our team on our Facebook page.
Until we can all get together, we hope to see you at our curbside or dockside drive-through. And remember, a Swordfish gift certificate is always a great Mother’s Day gift. You can see our menu and purchase gift certificates on our website.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding. We are all doing the best we can and we can’t wait to see you again soon! Happy Mother’s Day from the staff at The Swordfish Grill & Tiki!
