February’s Yappy Hour Has Pawsitive Impact
February’s monthly Yappy Hour, held at Motorworks Brewing in Bradenton, FL was one for the books, as the vendors, guests and their furry friends emerged from their COVID cocoons to feel the warmth of the sun. While the Motorworks employees hustled like busy worker bees to serve their large selection of Wine, Liquor and most importantly their Craft Beers, from seasonal selections such as the Raspberry Saison to their Adoptable Lager, which was perfect for the event, the live band played, and the community came together.
Yappy Hour is held on the third Sunday of every month, each month benefitting a different non-profit animal organization in our local community. This month’s showcased non-profit was Friends of Manatee County Animal Services (FoMCAS), where they all have a mutual passion for saving animals and animal rights. They not only focus on raising funds for pets in need at Manatee County Animal Services, with their three main programs Heal my Heart, Grace & Friends Medical Funds and the Slumber Fund but are also a great resource to help educate the community on successful pet ownership.
The Yappy Hour music duo of Leva and Paul Cataldo serenaded the patrons during this pawsitivly amazing event, the drinks were flowing, local food trucks were there to fill our stomachs and vendors sold an array of pet and non-pet related items. Businesses from all around our community donated an assortment items, as they do every month, so the event can feature a number of raffles, a silent auction and a 50/50 drawing. Some pet owners sat with their families, friends, and pets to include dogs of all ages and sizes, enjoying the music, thinking in the back of their minds about how vaccination numbers were up and Covid cases were down. While others had tickets trailing behind them as they carefully strategized their silent auction bids, but one thing was for sure, a terrific time was had by all. Everyone opened their hearts and helped raised money for a wonderful cause. Caryn Hodge of FoMCAS said “By all accounts it was the largest attended Yappy Hour to date raising $6600.00 for the county shelter animals.”

From Manatee County Animal Services: The February Yappy Hour was very successful for the Friends of Manatee County Animal Services, the nonprofit that fundraises for the Manatee County Animal Services shelter. By all accounts it was the largest attended Yappy Hour to date raising $6600 for the county shelter animals. 100% of the proceeds goes to help the animals largely in part with medical needs including through the heartworm treatment program called Heal Our Heart and the general medical fund called Grace and Friends. Other programs include enrichment and improvements. Special thanks and recognition to the event sponsors- Animal Network, Dawg Phonics, and Motorworks Brewing which make the monthly Yappy Hours possible. Each month features a different animal-related nonprofit or rescue. Also thank you to all the donors who generously gave products and services for the raffles and auctions and thank you to the volunteers who helped set up and run the event. It was a great day.
