Channel 7 News Anchor Hayley Wielgus Heading to Nashville

One of my favorite local news anchors is leaving us!  Hayley Wielgus has announced that she is leaving WWSB My Suncoast Channel 7 in Sarasota and is heading to Nashville, Tennessee!  She will be working at WRKN-TV where she will co-anchor the 5, 6 and 10pm newscasts.

I will be forever grateful to Hayley!  I contacted her in 2016 and asked her if she would be the “MC” for the Billy Rice “Back to The USA Video Release Party” at Primo Ristorante on November 11.  I knew she had a very busy schedule and it was a long shot.  Well, not only did she attend, she stayed for just about the whole show and many of the folks in attendance got to meet her.  There was a lot of love in the room that night!

Hayley Wielgus, Sande Caplin and Billy Rice at Primo RistoranteWe’re going to miss you Hayley.  You did so many great things for our community in the 6 ½ years that you were here.  Best of luck in Nashville!  Now we have another place to come visit and watch you on the news.

Hayley’s Facebook Post 10/4/2017Dusting off my boots because we’re headed to NASHVILLE, y’all! I have accepted a position with WKRN-TV Nashville to co-anchor the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. The station has just announced, so I’m thrilled I can finally share this with all of you who have been asking. I have truly been overwhelmed and overjoyed by your well wishes and support.

To say I feel abundantly blessed by this opportunity is an understatement for many reasons. I’ve long had ambitious goals and dreams for my career.

THANK YOU to the Suncoast community! You all have been incredibly kind to me and Max over the last 6 1/2 years. I’m especially grateful for the work I’ve had an opportunity to do with numerous non-profit organizations in this charitable community.

Also, a big thank you to Sue, Max, my family…and my friends, who have been there through countless phone calls and marathon text exchanges over the past several months!
