Big Brothers Big Sisters Culinary Extravaganza at IMG in Bradenton
On Thursday night, the community rallied together in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast- Manatee at their 9th annual Chef’s Cooking for Kids Culinary Extravaganza. A Culinary extravaganza it was indeed! The energy in the room was infectious. With The Billy Rice Band providing the music in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters you couldn’t help but feel good when walking into the room. The event was a sold-out night with 200 guests in attendance there to enjoy a foodie’s dream come true.
With sixteen local Chef’s and restaurants, serving dishes and competing for the coveted People’s Choice award you were not going away hungry. If you were lucky enough to attend this sold out event you got a chance to try dishes like bistro steak over truffle whipped potatoes, Thai papaya & kohlrabi salad topped with duck confit, and authentic meatballs. Don’t forget about the desserts, with apple crumb cake, candy coated donuts and birthday cake popcorn. Delicious!
The Chefs were competing for four different awards; Best Savory Dish, Best Dessert, Best Presentation and the People’s Choice Award. Guest judges Mayor Wayne Poston, Police Chief Melanie Bevan and Sheriff Rick Wells granted the following chefs their prizes. Best Savory Dish went to the Swordfish Grill & Tiki for their fresh grouper cakes. Best Dessert went to Tamera’s Kitchen with her dessert assortment of scones and gluten free brownies. Best Presentation went to Siesta Key Oyster Bar for his beautiful display with succulents. All the guests voted for the People’s Choice award. The winner was The Swordfish Grill & Tiki for the second year in a row. Congratulations to all!
