Best Places for Thanksgiving Desserts & Pies in Sarasota, FL

I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is less than a month away. I hate to rush the holidays. For example, seeing Christmas displays in stores before Halloween is over, is truly a little early for me. However, if you are thinking about ordering pies or other desserts in the Sarasota area for Thanksgiving, you are right on time. Most places will start taking orders in less than a week. And they will have a turn away point, when their orders have reached a maximum number. So the early bird, in this instance, will get the pie or perhaps cheesecake.

Here is a list of the best places to get Thanksgiving Dessert and Pies in the Sarasota and Bradenton area. I hate to say it, but I am not a pumpkin pie type of person. And for those of you out there like me, I included some not so conventional dessert places for Thanksgiving.

Detwiler’s Farm Market. There are several locations in Sarasota and one in Parrish. If you have ever walked through their bakery section, well, I really don’t have to tell you that the smells are heavenly. Whether you are looking for pound cake, apple or cherry pie, they have it. They even bake chocolate cake with caramel frosting. While you are ordering, make sure you get some of their great bread or rolls for Thanksgiving too. I like the jalapeno cheddar bread.

Paisano’s Italian Bakery: 2732 Stickney Point, Sarasota 941-926-8422. I personally cannot control myself when I am inside this place. I think I am just going in to pick up a dessert for a special dinner, and I walk out with cupcakes and homemade pizza dough. This would be a great place to pick up a specialty cookie tray or individual desserts.

CThanksgiving Dessert and Pies in the Sarasota and Bradenton FL areas.akes by Ron: 3520 Fruitville Road, Sarasota. Here is Ron’s Facebook page. If your motto is let them eat cake this Thanksgiving, then make it one by Ron. You can design a cake or choose from one of Ron’s 17 flavors of cupcakes. If you want to keep with a Thanksgiving theme, then let me suggest the Southern Pecan. Ron even offers filled cupcakes and there are some fabulous choices. One good things about cupcakes is that they are smaller portions and you can send some home with your guests.

Island GF Bakery: 1880 Stickney Point, Sarasota. See their Facebook page. They have been baking gluten free since 2006. If you have guests that have a special diet this is a must order place. This bakery offers specialty breads, cupcakes, pies and cookies.

Yoder’s Restaurant: 3434 Bahia Vista St, Sarasota 941-955-7771. If you have picky pie eaters for Thanksgiving, then you will want to place your order her. Yoder’s will start taking pie orders for Thanksgiving on November 1st. They will stop when they reach capacity. I called them to find this out and they told me that they do not have a stopping date. However, Yoder’s always books up, so don’t wait to order.

Whole Foods: Two Locations: 5928 University Pkwy, Sarasota 941-806-6130 or 1451 1st Street, Sarasota, 941-316-4700. Whole Foods has a gluten free bakery as well as a traditional one. They pride themselves on not using artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners or preservatives. You can order pies, cookies, bread and other sweets for your Thanksgiving day meal.

Finding sweet treats for your Thanksgiving celebration in the Sarasota area is not too hard to do. But, get your orders in early so you get exactly what everyone wants.
This Thanksgiving, I would like to leave you with a quote from the English poet, William Blake-
“The thankful receiver bears a plentiful harvest”
Happy Thanksgiving.
