Baby Boot Camp, the brainchild of Sarasota mom, Kristen Horler, was born in 2001 when she became a mom. “I grew up watching my dad go to work and my mom stay at home. As a new mom, I knew that I didn’t want to be away from my daughter all day, and I also knew that I wanted to use my education to help other moms feel empowered after having a baby,” said Kristen Horler, Founder and CEO of Baby Boot Camp.
Horler began offering Baby Boot Camp classes in her local community to help moms get fit with their child. Based on demand from other moms, Horler opened Baby Boot Camp in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona. Word-of-mouth growth resulted in the Horler family deciding to move their growing business from San Francisco, California to Sarasota, Florida in 2005.
Featured in the October 2016 issue of Entrepreneur magazine, Baby Boot Camp offers a remarkably low-cost franchise at only $4,000. “Most of our owners are young moms making a career change—they want something for themselves and see how underserved the new mom market is,” said Horler. “The flexibility of our business and income opportunity enables moms to become entrepreneurs and part of something bigger.”
Baby Boot Camp’s franchise headquarters recently moved from a small office located near Burns Court in downtown Sarasota to a large office on the South Trail. “We now have room for growth as our company expands to over 100 franchised locations nationwide,” said Horler.
