Allegiant’s Growth at SRQ Airport Marked by 8 New Routes

| Suncoast Post Staff |

Allegiant Air continues to expand its footprint at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), strengthening its position as the airport’s largest carrier. With a total of 35 nonstop routes, Allegiant offers more destinations from SRQ than any other airline, providing travelers with expanded access to and from Florida’s Gulf Coast.

The Las Vegas-based airline, which operates nearly half of its total capacity in Florida, first launched at SRQ in 2018 with just three routes. Since then, its presence has grown significantly, now serving 27 destinations from Sarasota-Bradenton, plus eight new routes that debuted in November 2024, bringing the total to 35.

Allegiant executives reaffirmed their commitment to SRQ last month at the opening of the airport’s newest concourse, Concourse A, which officially opened in January. The carrier’s growth at SRQ has solidified its role as a leading low-cost travel option for passengers flying to Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Allegiant’s Impact on SRQ’s Passenger Growth

Allegiant’s expansion at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport has contributed to record-breaking passenger growth. In 2023, SRQ served more than 4.3 million passengers, a 12.3% increase from the previous year.

0Allegiant is the third most-used airline at SRQ, carrying approximately 803,000 passengers between May 2023 and April 2024. The airline now holds an 18% market share, ranking just behind Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines in annual passenger volume.

As demand for nonstop, low-cost flights to and from Florida’s Gulf Coast continues to rise, Allegiant’s presence at SRQ is expected to grow even further in the coming years.
