300 + Photos- Anna Maria Island Parade, Swordfish Grill Hot Dog Eating Contest and Fireworks Somewhere in the Village of Cortez!
It was a July 4th that the team at the Sarasota Post will never forget! We attended our first Anna Maria Island July 4th Parade, went to the fourth annual Swordfish Grill & Tiki Hot Dog Eating Contest and at night got to see some of the best fireworks ever, somewhere in the Village of Cortez!
The day started in Cortez at 7am where we helped decorate the Killer Bait / Swordfish Grill & Tiki / Flippin Mullet float lead by Johnny Banyas and his crew. From there it was on to the island for the parade which lasted almost 2 hours. Oh, what fun! The crowds along the parade route were huge and everyone was waving and having a fabulous time all through Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach and Anna Maria Island.
The Hot Dog eating contest gets better & better every year. All guests that attended had lunch for free (Hot Dogs!) and got a chance to view the competition up close and personal.
Then, the night time spectacular. Yes, there were lots of fireworks in Manatee and Sarasota County, but we got to see a special show that took place in an unknown location in Cortez. Check out the video below to honor America one more time.
Can’t wait for next year’s 4th of July. See you there! Oh, can you guess whose picture it is in the headline of this article? The first person to enter the correct answer below under “comments” gets a free Sarasota Post hat! Family members & friends are not allowed to guess.
