We are Walking to Shine a Light on NF!
Welcome to Team Nicholas! Nick is 15 years old (will be 16 by the time of the Walk!) and has been battling with NF for over 12 years now. During that time, we have lived in several areas of the country and have been active in the NF community, doing walks in Seattle and more recently in Scottsdale. But Florida is where mom and dad grew up. We moved back in 2023, after Nick lost his hearing, so that he could attend the Florida School for the Deaf & Blind.
After our move last summer, Nick underwent surgery to remove the tumor from his brain and woke up from that very-long surgery unable to effectively use his arms and legs. An emergency surgery (surgery #11!!) a few days later removed a known tumor on his upper spine. After he woke up, things started moving again; but life has certainly changed after that.
We’re not 100% sure if we’ll be able to attend the Florida Walk in November, as we have had to take Nick out of school and focus on medical needs for the next few. The upcoming schedule is uncertain; but, for now, the Lindebacks plan to be there and will be eagerly engaging with, and supporting, the local Florida NF Community!
The Shine a Light NF Walk is the signature fundraising event of the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF), bringing NF out of the shadows and inspiring the community to come together to raise critical funds for NF research. Please help us reach our fundraising goal to help #EndNF.
NF is a group of genetic conditions that cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and affects millions worldwide of all populations. Today, there is no cure for NF.
By donating to one of our team members’ pages you are funding research to help better the lives of the millions living with NF, our NF Heroes. Thanks to the generosity and hard work of donors and supporters like you, we have seen incredible advances in NF research, and tremendous growth in our Foundation’s programs for NF patients.
Please join our team or donate because we need your support. The more funds we raise, the more clinical trials will be created; the more clinical trials created, the closer we get to effective treatments for neurofibromatosis and an end to NF.
