Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall Announces 2023-24 Season
Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall Executive Director, Mary Bensel, radiates anticipation for the 2023-24 season. With over twenty premieres on the roster, including the renowned musical “Hamilton” for two weeks, this season symbolizes a resurgence post-pandemic.
Bensel’s enthusiasm is palpable, reminiscent of a child’s joy during the holiday season. This year is particularly special to her not just because of the big-name Broadway productions, but also due to the diverse array of music and comedy set to captivate the community at large.
The season’s highlight reel boasts performances by the likes of Terry Fator, Sebastian Maniscalco, William Shatner, Barry Bostwick, Paul Anka, Frankie Valli with the Four Seasons, and Kristin Chenoweth. The latter is set to dazzle audiences at the annual Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation Inspiration Gala.
For international music enthusiasts, the Gipsy Kings will make their maiden performance in Sarasota at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
Earlier in the year, the hall unveiled its Broadway, dance, and classical lineup, with “Hamilton” stealing the limelight. It’s joined by other Broadway sensations such as “Hadestown,” “Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations,” and “Jagged Little Pill.” While Broadway series subscriptions have been available for some time, Bensel mentions a wait for individual “Hamilton” tickets, with sales predicted to start around November.
However, for most other events, the ticket sale window opens at 10 a.m. on September 9. Existing subscribers and e-club members are privy to an early bird sale on September 7-8.
