SRQCon 2025: Free Comic-Con Style Pop Culture Festival Returns to Selby Library in Sarasota
Get ready, Sarasota! SRQCon 2025 returns on Saturday, June 7, bringing a full day of free, family-friendly pop culture fun to Selby Library, located at 1331 First Street in downtown Sarasota. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is hosted by Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources.
Now in its latest edition, SRQCon has grown into one of Southwest Florida’s most exciting local comic-con style events. The free convention transforms Selby Library into a vibrant hub of comics, cosplay, storytelling, gaming, art, and creative exploration. Visitors of all ages are invited to join the fun—no registration or ticket is required.
“SRQCon is a celebration of imagination, creativity, and community,” said Dr. Renée DiPilato, Director of Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources. “We’re proud to offer a high-quality, inclusive event that’s free for everyone.”
What to Expect at SRQCon 2025:
Attendees will enjoy a dynamic schedule featuring hands-on workshops, interactive demonstrations, virtual reality, crafts, live performances, and a cosplay contest. Highlights include:
- Gesture Drawing Workshop and Shadow Puppet Show (11 a.m.)
- Cosplay Dance with ShimmyBoom (12 p.m.)
- Cosplay Contest and Drawing with Dean (1 p.m.)
- Comic Creation with Bat City Comics and Cosplay Tips Panel (2 p.m.)
- Horror Writing Workshop and Magic Bunny Q&A (3 p.m.)
- Ongoing activities include VR exploration, crafting stations, and video games.
Costumes are encouraged, and attendees are asked to keep them family-friendly and follow library conduct guidelines. Food will be available from Mr. Bulgogi food truck on-site.
