Slicker’s Eatery and Rotary Club of Anna Maria Island empower others to join their Campaign for Ukraine

| Molly Parry |

The local restaurant and service organization come together to plan a series of fundraising events for Ukraine culminating with a community Concert For Peace on June 12th, 2022.

While Anna Maria Island and Kyiv, Ukraine may be around 6,000 miles away – Slicker’s Eatery and the Rotary Club of Anna Maria Island are bridging the gap to make a direct positive impact in the war-torn country. Through a vow for continued fundraising efforts from the Rotary Club of AMI’s direct connection to volunteers on the ground in Ukraine and Poland with the readiness to plan and fundraise from the team at Cortez fresh restaurant Slicker’s Eatery, they’ve partnered to host a series of fun and impactful local fundraisers. A week of events to come together and give back with the main event, a Concert for Peace, taking place June 12th at The Center of AMI is open for any and all to enjoy and give.

On June 5th, Slicker’s Eatery will host a ‘Painting with a Purpose’ event with Bradenton’s ‘Painting with a Twist’ team coming to teach a painting class with proceeds for Rotary’s Ukraine Relief Fund. Info can be found on Facebook, spots are almost filled. On June 8th from 4-7pm, AMI’s “A Paradise Realty” has planned a Happy Hour at Slicker’s Eatery. They will be raffling up items including a Yeti cooler filled with cheer, a value of $550. First 80 guests will be treated to a glass of wine or beer of their choice, compliments of A Paradise.

Ukraine

All are encouraged to attend the community festival for their Campaign for Ukraine’s “Concert for Peace” taking place on June 12th from 4-8pm at The Center of AMI. The event is free but donations are encouraged. Some of the area’s greatest local bands and musicians have donated their time and talents– Ukrainian music, Poppa Grump band, and headlined by rockstar Twinkle and Rock Soul Radio & friends will be performing. Many local businesses will be coming together to serve libations sponsored by Gold Coast Eagle and Bunny and Pirates, with food sponsored by The Chiles Group. Tie-dye t-shirts donated by Team Edition will be sold at the event. There will be large live auction items, speakers, and must-see raffles. With the generosity of corporate sponsors and local business partners helping take care of logistics to make this event happen and a main stage sponsored by the Anna Maria Oyster Bar, the groups are ensuring that each penny of profit from donations goes right to the Rotary’s Ukraine Relief Fund.

Ukraine

100% of funds raised will go directly to Ukrainians in need – for specific medical supplies, goods and food desperately needed to support refugees in Poland and Ukrainians still maintaining defense of their country. Slicker’s Eatery owner Bob Slicker said, “There’s a lot going on, and there’s always a lot to do. We can’t forget about this war, we have a real opportunity to help people who really need it. We need our community to show them how well we care for each other.” Online donations can be made directly at bit.ly/AMIRotary_Ukraine
