Registration Now Open for the 2026 Gulf Coast Games for Life: Sarasota–Manatee’s Premier Senior Sports Competition Returns
Registration is officially open for the 37th Annual Gulf Coast Games for Life, the Suncoast’s signature multi-sport event for adults 50 and older. Taking place throughout January and February 2026 in Sarasota and Manatee counties, the Games bring together hundreds of amateur athletes for friendly competition, healthy activity and social connection.
Celebrating more than three decades of active aging on Florida’s Gulf Coast, the Games continue to expand in both participation and program offerings—making them one of the most exciting senior sports events in the state.
A Two-County Collaboration Supporting Active, Healthy Living
The 2026 Gulf Coast Games for Life are presented collaboratively by:
- Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources
- Manatee County Sports & Leisure Services
- City of North Port Parks & Recreation
The partnership allows the event to use premier facilities across the region, from top-tier pickleball courts and aquatic centers to well-equipped recreation centers and outdoor trails.
Key 2026 Event Dates
- 5K Road Race Kickoff: January 17, 2026
- Additional competitions run January 24 – February 21, 2026
With 16 different sporting events offered, participants can compete in one or several disciplines.
2026 Gulf Coast Games for Life Sports Lineup
Events include a wide range of recreational and competitive activities suitable for all ability levels, such as:
- Pickleball (one of the most popular events each year)
- Basketball shooting
- Rowing & paddling (unique to the Gulf Coast Games)
- Cycling
- Track & field events
- Shuffleboard
- Table tennis
- Swimming
- Bocce, bowling, horseshoes, and more
These events provide a pathway to higher-level competition, serving as a qualifying series for the 2026 Florida Senior Games, held in December 2026.
Qualifying for the 2026 Florida Senior Games
Medals are awarded to the top three athletes in each age division.
The top five finishers per age group in most events will qualify for the 2026 Florida Senior Games.
Note: Target shooting and rowing/paddling do not advance to the Florida Senior Games, as those sports are not offered at the state level.
Registration Details & Fees
- One-time registration fee: $13 (includes official event shirt)
- Additional events: $4 per event
- Some events may require a facility fee
- Registration deadlines: Two weeks prior to each individual event
- First deadline: January 3, 2026
Athletes are encouraged to register early, as some events—especially pickleball—fill quickly.
