WSLR is pleased to announce a summer concert by New York’s high energy BAAM! Band on Thursday, June 26th at 8pm at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center. BAAM! is New York City’s premier Rock n’ Roll big band, bringing together six conservatory-trained jazz musicians and a self-taught singer /songwriter to create a distinctive and original sound. Rocking dance numbers, melodic love songs, epic rockers, and funky, jazz-infused grooves? You’ll find them all at one of BAAM!’s energetic—and wild—shows
Formed in the summer of 2011 with the stated goal of gathering some of New York’s top young musicians and songwriters into one group, BAAM! is an energetic indie rock band with a strong Blues and jazz influence. The seven band members have performed with some of the world’s top musicians including Steve Wilson, The Kelly Bell Band, Jimmy Heath, Mulgrew Miller, Jimmy Heath, Bob Mintzer, Darondo, Soul Cannon, Michael Formenek and The Fatum Brothers. BAAM!’s members have also played at such world-renowned venues as The Music Hall of Williamsburg, The Kennedy Center, Symphony Space, The Blue Note in NYC and Webster Hall to name a few. The seven-piece band is comprised of 3 horns, 2 guitars, drums, bass and vocals.
BAAM’s superb musicianship and engaging performance guarantee a great show with plenty of dancing. Their sound has been likened to that of Jet, Cake, Tower of Power Audioslave and Radiohead. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Advance tickets are available at www.wslr.org.
