Mermaid Kisses & Fairy Wishes Benefit- September 13 at the White Buffalo Saloon

In just a few short days, a very important benefit will be taking place at the White Buffalo Saloon.  Mermaid Kisses & Fairy Wishes Benefit is for two of the nicest and very special ladies in our town- Barbara Robinson and Susie Bruce.  Both of these wonderful ladies have been battling Ovarian Cancer for several years.  There are huge medical bills and unfortunately no income for either of these woman.

I met Barbara a few months ago at her home and we had a very deep and enlightening conversation regarding her situation.  I have been a friend of Susie for many years and we have worked together on several fundraisers.

From the Mermaids & Fairy Wishes Facebook page- Barbie has a teenage son she fears she may be leaving to complete his last year of high school without her support and guidance, she wants desperately to leave him a little seed money to get started into college. And Susie is fighting with the insurance companies because she doesn’t quite qualify for public assistance with all her medical bills. She said “As long as I can pay my Oncologist then I have hope!”

Susie has always been so generous in giving back to many fundraising causes, The Children’s Miracle Network, her Pink Angel Boutique & Save the Ta Ta’s, Susan G Komen were 3 of her biggest causes! Barbara was a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors in Sarasota, creator of the popular Miss Barbie’s Princess Tea Parties and a supporter of many local charities including Suncoast Children’s Charities.

Barbie has completed 2 rounds of chemo, 1 round of Alternative Healing Methods and now is in Hospice with the goal to be as comfortable as possible surrounded by loved ones. We are praying for a miracle and her getting to see her youngest son graduate from HS in 2016!

Susie is currently in the middle of her 2nd round of chemo and we are also praying for a miracle and for her comfort.

The benefit will be held at the White Buffalo Saloon on September 13th from Noon-6:00 pm.  There will also be a Poker Run – “The Big O Run”.  Registration begins 10am, KSU @ 11 – LBI 3:00 pm. begins and ends at White Buffalo.  Linksters North, Woody’s River Roo, Motorworks Brewery, Bearded Clam, O’Leary’s Tiki.. 50/50 Prize – save your appetite for White Buffalo as 20% back to the cause.  There will be a cash bar, set menu, 4 live bands starting at 1:00 pm (MacDaddy, John Reece Project, Twinkle, Democracy Reggae), silent auctions, Chines raffles, and other raffles.
