It Has Been Almost a Year Since Charlee & Nova’s Mom Sara Was Killed By a Drunk Driver. What You Can Do To Help.
Sara Holmes was killed by a drunk driver last November. As many of you know, she left behind 2 beautiful daughters, Charlee and Nova. So many people attended her Celebration of Life at the Swordfish Grill and Tiki in Cortez, Florida on November 17, 2024. The picture above of “the girls” is from that evening. Needless to say, there have been a lot of challenges for these girls. What can you do to help?
On October 20th, there will be a “Giving Back” event at the Swordfish Grill and Tiki. 100% of the proceeds from the event will go to the girls Florida 529 Account for their future education. The event is sponsored by The Suncoast Post, Swordfish Grill & Tiki and Sande Caplin and Associates. One of the Suncoast’s best bands, Kettle of Fish will be performing with special guest, Tim “TC” Chandler. The music is being sponsored by 88 Live Piano Bar and Clancy’s Irish Sports Pub.
Here is the link to purchase tickets or make a donation. I hope you can attend this very important event.

Read below the story from last year about the Celebration of Life for Sara.
They came from right around the block, they came from distant towns, and they came from distant states to celebrate the life of Sara-Danielle Holmes ,whose life was tragically taken away by a drunk driver last week.

The Swordfish Grill & Tiki in Cortez, Florida hosted the celebration, and it was so fitting as Sara worked there. It was such a loving event. Lots of hugs, lots of kisses, so many stories and a lot of tears. I got to meet so many of Sara’s family members and friends who were just so kind. Many of them spoke to the crowd of their love and remembrance of Sara.
I met Sara’s two girls, Charlee, and Nova. They fell in love with Mookie and with the help of Katrina Cox daughter, Ava, and several other friends they actually seemed comfortable.

My heart goes out to Sara’s mom Leesa. She certainly has challenges ahead. In the short time that I’ve known her I got the feeling that she will eventually be okay. She will have the support of family, friends, and our tribe here in Cortez, Florida.
Thank you to the wonderful group of folks at the Swordfish Grill & Tiki who worked so hard to make Sara’s Celebration of Life an incredibly special evening.

We will be putting a photo album together in the near future. Hundreds of photos to go through!
