Iron & Wine’s Sam Beam and Broadway Playwright Lindsey Ferrentino Headline Special Hermitage Beach Event in Sarasota

| Suncoast Post Staff |

The Hermitage Artist Retreat has announced a special beachfront program on June 22 featuring Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sam Beam and acclaimed playwright Lindsey Ferrentino.

A Beachfront Evening of Theater and Music

Titled “Script & Song: A Beachfront Evening of Theater and Music,” the event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on the Hermitage Beach on Manasota Key. Beam and Ferrentino will share stories, music, and creative insight while discussing how theater and music can work together across artistic mediums.

The program follows other recent Hermitage beachfront arts events, including Hermitage Beach hosting award-winning playwrights Anna Deavere Smith and Beth Steel earlier this year.

About the Featured Artists

Beam, best known for his work as Iron & Wine, has earned five Grammy nominations and has become one of the leading voices in indie folk and Americana music over the past two decades. Ferrentino has built an impressive Broadway and international theater career with productions including The Fear of 13, starring Adrien Brody, and The Queen of Versailles.

The announcement also comes on the heels of major national recognition for Hermitage Fellow Bess Wohl, whose play Liberation — developed at the Hermitage — recently won the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and earned multiple Tony Award nominations.

Suncoast Post readers may also remember the Broadway-focused Hermitage Greenfield Prize Dinner featuring Will Swenson and the historic land gift expanding the Hermitage Artist Retreat’s Manasota Key residency capacity.

Registration Details

Hermitage programs are open to the public, though advance registration is required and includes a $5 registration fee. Additional summer programming is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
