International Women’s Day Celebrated at WSLR in Sarasota
WSLR LP 96.5 FM will be commemorating International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8, with a full day of special programming from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m., highlighting the theme of “inspire inclusion.”
This year’s celebration will be deeply intersectional, amplifying the voices of women of color, lesbian and bisexual women, women with disabilities, and individuals who identify as nonbinary and/or trans.
The lineup for the day is as follows (schedule subject to change):
7-9 a.m. – “Latin Explosion!” with guest host Claire Montenegro
9-10 a.m. – “Surreal News” with guest host Nancy Norris
10-11 a.m. – “Democracy Now!” hosted by Amy Goodman (syndicated)
11 a.m.-1 p.m. – “Complex Waveforms” with guest host Diana Bregman (“The Cat’s Meow”)
1-2 p.m. – Ryan Stanley and Dawnyelle Singleton will discuss the state of women’s reproductive health and provide a preview of the “Battleground” documentary screening at Fogartyville on March 19 (normally “The Thom Hartmann Program”)
2-3 p.m. – special one-hour edition of “INDIE-licious” with Sheila Jane (normally “Big Willy’s Juke Joint”)
3-4 p.m. – special one-hour edition of “Synthetic Age” with JR (normally “Big Willy’s Juke Joint”)
4-6 p.m. – “Friday Happy Hour” with guest host Louise Coogan (“Discovery Road”), featuring a call-in interview with Paula Cole and an in-studio interview with Zoë Lewis
6-6:30 p.m. – WSLR News
6:30-7 p.m. – “CounterSpin” hosted by Janine Jackson (syndicated)
7-9 p.m. – “Ripper’s Rarities” with guest hosts Alecia (“Indie Psych Show”) and Susan Runyan (“High Tide”)
