Harp Guitarist Muriel Anderson to Perform at Fogartyville in Sarasota
Muriel Anderson is a guitarist, harp guitarist, and composer who embraces music from all over the world. Her playing reflects a sense of grace and joy, infused with humor. She is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. Her CD, Nightlight Daylight, was chosen as one of the top 10 CDs of the decade by Guitar Player Magazine, and her “Heartstrings” recording accompanied the astronauts on the space shuttle Discovery.
She has performed/recorded with Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Victor Wooten, Tommy Emmanuel and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Muriel Anderson will perform with special guest harp-guitarist Andy Wahlberg at Fogartyville on Tuesday, February 22 at 7pm. Tickets are $18 for members/$20 for nonmembers. Advance tickets are available at Fogartyville.
During this performance Muriel Anderson will take audience members on a journey with her guitar and harp-guitar enhanced by a backdrop of visuals artfully projected onto a screen behind her. It is a musical journey around the world. Sometimes whimsical, always engaging, truly an experience of all the senses. You’ll go sailing with her on her recent adventures, and virtually taste the experiences that led to her release “Acoustic Chef.” Visuals by celebrated photo-artist Bryan Allen.
An engaging performer, Muriel’s unique approach to the instrument virtually transforms the guitar into a lyrical choir, then a marching band, then a Japanese koto, then a Bluegrass band, one minute launching into a Beatles’ tune and the next, a Spanish classic.
