2021 Nathan Benderson Park Fireworks On The Lake Driven By Sunset Automotive Group

An annual tradition becomes a Suncoast family gathering this year. NBP Fireworks On The Lake Driven By Sunset Automotive Group will be an in-person celebration with as many as 25,000 people coming together for food, exhibitors, live music, a 4-mile run, family fun and fireworks.

Gates open at 5 p.m. The Derek Lersch Band will play 5:30-7 p.m., and the Black Honkeys will play 7:30-9 p.m., with fireworks shortly after 9 p.m. The Black Honkeys will bring a compelling mix of Motown, funk, rock and more, and the Derek Lersch Band plays modern country sounds. A DJ will fill out the evening’s music.

Also returning for this year is the Kids Zone, a fun, safe, controlled environment for children to play games and enjoy activities.

The presenting sponsor, Sunset Automotive Group, will showcase some of its vehicles — from Cadillacs to Jeeps, from Chevrolets and Buicks to Kias and Maseratis — in places throughout the 600-acre facility.

The event is free to the public, but because of positive response to designated parking at the 2020 show, parking is ticketed. Tickets are available at the website.

Nathan Benderson Park Rec Day!: From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., before NBP Fireworks On The Lake Driven By Sunset Automotive Group. This is a great opportunity for natural sound and family-friendly imagery on the water. For a small fee, children and their parents and siblings can get out on the water with their choice of our equipment, and switch out at their whim. There are kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, a pedal pontoon boat, and a 15-foot sailboat with captain (masks required). See more about the family-friendly NBP Rec Days! at the website. The next NBP Rec Days! are July 17 and 31.

Fireworks 4-Miler On The Lake: This event from the park and Fit2Run is part of the 2021 Fireworks On The Lake Driven By Sunset Automotive Group. Presented by the park and Fit2Run, The Runners Superstore. The race course winds around the park’s Cooper Creek Lake. More info: HERE.

TV Special is Sunday, July 4: WWSB (ABC 7) will again televise the fireworks as part of an hour-long Independence Day special at 9 p.m. on Independence Day.

Embracing Our Differences exhibit is open: The art exhibit is open on Regatta Island and the northwest shore of Cooper Creek Lake. The annual, juried art exhibit is composed by a Sarasota-based arts and education non-profit, Embracing Our Differences (EOD). It consists of 50 billboard-sized works of art, each accompanied by an inspirational quote. The international exhibit uses the power of art and prose to promote diversity and inclusion.

The 2021 exhibit brought 15,912 entries from 128 nations, and from 48 U.S. states. The winning quotes and art are showcased in Sarasota’s Bayfront Park every year, from January through March. Thanks to the generosity of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, the public has another opportunity to see this exhibit.

The exhibit is on display at the park May 20-Aug. 8 and is free for the public to view. For more information about this free exhibit or Embracing Our Differences, call 941-404-5710 or visit HERE
