Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda Announces Huge 2026 Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks Spectacular

| Suncoast Post Staff |

Florida’s Gulf Coast knows how to celebrate the Fourth of July, and one of the biggest waterfront parties of the holiday weekend is returning to Punta Gorda in 2026.

Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda has officially announced plans for its annual Independence Day Holiday Celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026, featuring live music, family-friendly entertainment, shopping, dining, and a massive fireworks display over Charlotte Harbor.

Admission and parking are free, making this one of the most affordable and family-oriented July 4th events on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast.

A Full Day of July 4th Fun on the Waterfront

The celebration begins well before sunset. One of the day’s signature traditions, the annual Freedom Swim, starts at 10 a.m. near Sunseeker Resort and finishes at Fishermen’s Village. The unique open-water swim has become a popular patriotic event for athletes and spectators alike.

Festivities officially kick off at noon along the Fishermen’s Village promenade, where visitors can enjoy:

  • Patriotic activities celebrating America’s 250th Birthday
  • Fairy hair styling
  • Temporary tattoos
  • Interactive family activities
  • Waterfront shopping
  • Dining specials
  • Live entertainment throughout the property

Representatives from the Charlotte Bay Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will also host a patriotic display with giveaways honoring America’s historic 250th anniversary celebration.

Live Music All Day and Night

Music lovers will find entertainment throughout the entire property from noon until fireworks time.

Scheduled performers include:

  • Paul Roush
  • Music Box Duo
  • Chris Terp
  • Mark Gorka
  • From The Edge Band

The evening lineup will feature everything from country and rock to dance favorites, helping turn the waterfront into one giant Independence Day party.

Fireworks Over Charlotte Harbor

The highlight of the evening will be the fireworks spectacular beginning at 9 p.m. along the waterfront.

Organizers say the west side of the property will provide some of the best viewing opportunities for the show. Because Fishermen’s Village sits directly on Charlotte Harbor, the reflections over the water create one of the most scenic fireworks displays in Southwest Florida.

Visitors planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early, especially since Punta Gorda’s July 4th celebrations often draw large crowds from Sarasota, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Port Charlotte, and surrounding Gulf Coast communities. Other waterfront holiday events around the region, including Fireworks on the Lake at Nathan Benderson Park, have shown how popular these Gulf Coast celebrations can be.

Sunset and Fireworks Cruise Returns

For visitors looking for a different perspective, King Fisher Fleet will once again offer a special Sunset & Fireworks Cruise departing at 7:30 p.m.

The cruise gives guests a chance to enjoy sunset views over Charlotte Harbor before watching the fireworks display directly from the water.

More Than Just a Shopping Destination

Fishermen’s Village continues to be one of Punta Gorda’s top tourism destinations year-round. The waterfront complex features:

  • More than 30 independently owned shops and boutiques
  • Waterfront restaurants and bars
  • Boat docking and marina services
  • Water recreation rentals
  • Vacation villas at The Suites at Fishermen’s Village

The destination has become especially popular with Florida road-trippers, boaters, snowbirds, and Gulf Coast visitors looking for a walkable waterfront experience with shopping, dining, and entertainment all in one location. Nearby event coverage such as the Punta Gorda Seafood & Music Festival shows why the area remains a favorite for waterfront entertainment.
