Cabana Inn Presents “Giving Cancer the Blues”

Sarasota, FL – The Cabana Inn will present “Giving Cancer the Blues” taking place
at the Cabana Inn on June 29, 2013, and featuring an amazing line-up of Sarasota’s finest musicians: Kettle of Fish, Twinkle, RJ Howson, Berry Duane Oakley and Skylab, Ship of Fools, Kara Nally, Randy Stevens, Savanna Wright, and many special appearances throughout the day.

The Cabana Inn is proud to bring “Giving Cancer the Blues” to Sarasota, FL for the
first time. “Giving Cancer the Blues” will raise funds to support the Payton
Wright Foundation, an organization dedicated to fighting pediatric brain cancer on
multiple fronts. The foundation supports research to find new treatments and
financially assists families who are caring for a child fighting brain cancer. The
foundation was established in 2008 by Patrick and Holly Wright, after their
daughter, Payton, lost her fight with brain cancer at age 5. More information can

“Giving Cancer the Blues” starts at 2 pm with a $5 donation at the door.

Dana Lawrence, lead singer of Kettle of Fish, says, “I have seen the worst of
cancer, invading people’s homes and happiness and leaving pain and loss. But
cancer doesn’t have to be a death sentence, and I’m happy to know many people who
are survivors. I was happy to be asked to participate in the ‘Giving Cancer the
Blues’ event at the Cabana to raise money and have a great time in the face of this
horrible disease. F cancer!”

The Cabana Inn, a hotel and bar, first opened its doors in 1958. This Sarasota
icon, like all of us, has seen her good days and her bad days. The new managers,
Scott and Beverly, have a vision that has been breathing new life into the Cabana,
with an impressive new stage, sound system, lights, bar renovations, and an amazing
schedule of entertainment featuring the best of local and national musicians and
events 7 nights a week. Room renovations in the hotel are underway, embracing the
old Florida feel of the Cabana Inn. Locals are pleased with the improvements and
