World of Beer Celebrates Local Food and Brews

World of Beer has a brand new location in Bradenton. This marks the 77th location for the franchise, but don’t get them confused with the stereotypical chain brewery. Founded in Tampa in 2006, World of Beer is now serving up over 10,000 different beers and the variety on tap completely depends on which location you’re visiting. I sat down with Dean and Jen Lambert, owners of our three local locations – Sarasota University, Sarasota Main Street and now Bradenton – to discuss not only the beverages, but also the unexpected and completely delectable food menu.
World of Beer is serving up an innovative take on staple tavern fare. Among the wings and burgers, you’ll also find the tavern taters smothered with house-made beer cheese, crab cakes served with a kale and apple slaw, and the artisan sausage board paired perfectly with peppadews and pickled okra. The food is locally sourced and as fresh as it gets.
WOB is also celebrating Sunday brunch by hosting BEERunch. For only $20, the Bottomless Booze Brunch comes with your choice of endless Bloody Marys, Mimosas or Beermosas, as well as one breakfast item. Every menu item is also accompanied with a suggested beer pairing. If you need more help, just ask your server. Both bartenders and servers are required to get a 98% on a 200 question test all about beer before ever hitting the floor!
It’s not just the food that is local. I paired my appetizers with a Bold City Brown Ale from Jacksonville and a Grapefruit Zest Hefeweizen from the Bradenton-based Motorworks Brewery. WOB also has a variety of wine and spirits, and they’re getting local with their liquor by stocking the shelves with Cane Sugar Vodka from Tampa and Siesta Key Gold Rum. Between the food, the drinks and the live music, it’s no wonder why World of Beer is growing so rapidly.
Be sure to drop in for a bite at the downtown location or just for a beer or two at the University location (right now the only food item available at University is their signature German Pretzel.) And you can really see what World of Beer is all about on Saturday, August 8th when the Bradenton location hosts Beerfest. Complete with local vendors, an Ozzy Osbourne tribute band and you guessed it, plenty of beer, it’s sure to be a great time celebrating America’s favorite adult beverage.
