The Table Creekside- Sumptuous Summer Specials
Chef Pedro Flores and Chef Rafael Manzano at the award-winning The Table Creekside in Sarasota have certainly raised the bar when it comes to new summer offerings that showcase innovative dishes. Palate pleasing and specially priced, the summer season celebration includes Blackboard Specials for $20.95 and under.
My favorite of the new Blackboard Specials was the Argentinian Mixed Grill ($20.95). As with the majority of The Table’s award-winning offerings, sauces and spices were expertly prepared and even the grilled Argentinian pork sausage, savory and mildly spicy, is handmade on the premises. Organic airline chicken (breast with wing) was grilled to perfection and very moist; the sausage delicious; house smoked beef brisket fall-off-the-bone tender. This globally inspired dish was served with truffle yucca fries – an unusual side and well liked by the group of us.
Entrée salad lovers must try the California Grilled Shrimp Salad with grilled radicchio, heirloom vegetables and miso vinaigrette (19.95). There was an ample portion of large shrimp on this dish lightly spiced and grilled to perfection.
Mussels and Pork Catalonia reflects the Spanish influence of Manchego gnocchi, served with house-made focaccia bread for dipping (19.95). The sauce was so delicious I could have enjoyed it as soup broth.
Peruvian style Fish-n-Chips were lightly battered and featured calamari, jumbo shrimp, and fresh Atlantic cod (or snapper) presented with heirloom tomato relish and Caribbean fries ($20.95).
One thing I love about The Table is its unusual selection of cocktails and there’s always something new to test according to the season or the whim of the expert bartenders. I’ve seriously considered going there for an evening of sampling just cocktails…but don’t want to suffer the consequences… This night we sampled a watermelon concoction made with dark ginger rum, lime syrup, mint and fresh watermelon juice that was super summer refreshing.
The Table Creekside, if you haven’t been there, is designed to feel like you’re on a ship as it provides wide views of the water (Phillippi Creek) with its large windows and many tables are window-side. It’s chic, but relaxing and casual at the same time and the crowd on a summer Wednesday night was a testament to this award-winning restaurant’s growing popularity. It’s hard to believe this was a fish warehouse less than five years ago.
