The Blu Que, Sizzling Delights With An Ambiance All Its Own

When you visit the Blu Que Island Grill and Bar, you’re immediately taken by the bright combo of blue and white lights, which emit a feeling of casual elegance and spells out a good time will be had by all.  I was at a party there a few months ago, and I was very impressed how they had set up the food, drink, and even lobsters in a glamorous and delightful arrangement.  I kept thinking that if I had a party there I wouldn’t have the first worry about presentation, service, ambiance and the enjoyment of my guests. The Blu Que is a comfortable, beachy bar and grill with a super menu offering smoke-infused cuisine featuring hardwood grilled favorites cooked low and slow over hickory and apple wood chips. This is all an example of an eatery that delivers the highest quality food and service.

Their menu offers a vast selection of steak, chops, fowl, fresh seafood and authentic American barbeque.  And of course, they didn’t forget the accompaniments: crisp salads, savory soups, mouthwatering side dishes and a delicious selection of home-style desserts that are not to be missed.

 Happy Hour Monday-Friday 12-6pm and live music all day! The drink menu for Happy Hour features $10 martinis in 22 flavors!  The Blu Que has something special on the menu every day.  Mondays you can enjoy  .75 cent Wings all day7.  Happy Hour is from 12-6pm. Appetizers are 1/2 off from 3-6pm at the bars only. Tuesdays they feature $15 Smoked Prime Rib all day.  Wednesdays feature a $35 Lobster Special all day. On Thursdays get a $15 Full Rack of Ribs All Day. Fridays $50 All –You- Can- Eat King Crab all day. On Saturdays enjoy $35 All –You- Can –Eat – Snow Crab all day, On Sundays The Blu Que offers $5 Pulled Pork Sandwiches all day and a deliciously festive Pig Roast.

Some of the offerings on the lunch and dinner menu include such special treats as fried calamari, Blu Que Sampler including brisket, pulled pork and smoked chicken, award-winning chicken wings, smoked fish dip,  Kobe beef sliders, fresh crab cakes, spicy seared  tuna, and many more mouth-watering specialties.  Enjoy soup and salad for either lunch or dinner, including steak and black bean chili, Key Caesar Salad, and Smoked beef brisket which is smoked for 18 hours.  A truly original menu filled with healthy, as well as naughty, delights.  Cobb salad with smoked chicken, Mozzarella and tomato salad, and sweet grass salad, which includes raisins, bleu cheese , sesame seeds, cucumbers, walnuts and Japanese noodles.  So many unbelievably delicious choices!  

The fish and pasta menu is delightfully rich with special dishes and fish that you can have prepared grilled, blackened, pan-seared or grilled on a cedar plank with your choice of mango chutney, crab cream sauce, white wine butter sauce, or Jack Daniels brown sugar and soy sauce glaze.  Enjoy grouper, Yellow fin tuna, King Crab Legs, Crab cakes, Mahi, Salmon or Low country shrimp and grits. Combine them with the Blu Que’s Signature sides and you’ve cut yourself a yummy slice of heaven.  

Lobster Dinner Siesta Key, FloridaMy friend and new Manager at the Blu Que, Mark Bartlett, had this to say when I asked him to give me the “essence” of the Blu Que as he sees it.  This is what he had to say: “It’s a great location.  It has this “village vibe” and an upscale but casual atmosphere of friendliness and good times.  The staff has worked together for a long while, and is a knowledgeable and welcoming group.  Smoked meats, as well as seafood, are all par excellence and what I mean by that is that this ain’t your Daddy’s barbecue!  Our smoked brisket, for instance, stays in the smoker for 18 hours and the results are consistently phenomenal.  Wednesday night’s all-you-can-eat lobster is very popular, and the Blu Que has a following who keep coming back and bringing their friends, as well.  It’s just a great place!”  Mark made it a point to say that “Maureen Hazlett is the Blue Que, GM and he has the pleasure of working with a great staff.”
