On Father’s Day, I had the opportunity to make my first visit to the Swordfish Grill in the historic Village of Cortez. The Swordfish Grill is located at 4628 119th Street West. It’s really easy to get to, just off of Cortez Road, a little before the bridge to Anna Maria Island! This is a really cool place to hang out with a great menu and they also have live entertainment.
On this day, Steve Arvey and his “Delta Swamp Rats” were playing live! Steve is just so talented and is quite the character. Steve said to me that the “Swordfish Grill” is one of his favorite places to perform.” The “Grill” has live entertainment every night of the week. That’s right…..every night. There is a list of upcoming events on their website, www.swordfishgrillcortez.com.
I had the pleasure of meeting the staff….all a bunch of great folks and I am not just saying it for this article! They were so cordial and made us feel welcome. Lunch was great! I had the Coconut Shrimp and my friend had the Crab Cake Sandwich. Both were excellent. They have a great menu from salads, to sandwiches of all types and a great selection of appetizers and entrees.
Swordfish Grill is now on my favorite list…..not only for the great food and live entertainment but there is lot’s more. First of all, you have to try their special blends of “hot sauce.” There are 3 different types. And, the views…..the waterfront views are phenomenal. Every so often a you see a nice boat cruising by and I know I saw a good size fish jump out of the water while I was there.
So if you’re looking for a great place to hang out, have a cold beer or great mixed drink at the Tiki bar then the Swordfish Grill is the Place. Enjoy the outside water views or if you want to relax inside in the climate controlled dining room……. the Swordfish Grill on Cortez is the place. See you there!
