Sunday Brunch at the Westin in Sarasota, Florida

Sunday Brunch at the Westin in Sarasota, Florida

I never thought I would purposefully go to a hotel to eat.  I normally see hotel food as a last resort, especially when I am at home.  When there are so many great options out there, why go to a hotel to eat?  But, if you haven’t been to the new Westin in downtown Sarasota, you should go check it out.

Roof Top Bar Sarasota, FloridaLast Sunday, my husband took a trip to downtown Sarasota on a Sunday afternoon for brunch.  It was a beautiful, sunny Sunday with a slight breeze.  That was just perfect weather to sit on the outside patio in a shaded area and enjoy the vibrant city, the magnificent view of the bay and lunch.

The Westin’s primary restaurant, Evoq, has an outdoor patio as well as a spacious, tranquil dining area inside. On this particular Sunday, there was live music outdoors which made the afternoon even better. The dining patio is set above the traffic but without the music, it may be a little loud.  The lunch menu has a nice selection of seafood as well as different sandwiches and salads. The service was exceptional and the food was outstanding.

Westin Hotel Sarasota, FloridaAfter lunch, we explored the hotel and made our way up to the 19th floor.  The 19th floor of the Westin is where you will find the pool and a very active outdoor terrace.  Oh, and the view!! A breathtaking view of the bay and city. The terrace was full of activity with children playing in the pool, people lounging in the sun and bartenders mixing drinks.  The Roof Bar and Eats is open to the public and they serve craft cocktails and offer a lunch and sundown menu. The lunch menu consists of sandwiches, wraps, tapas, and burgers. The sundown menu is on the lighter side and is mostly appetizers.

On Friday and Saturday nights, the Roof is open until midnight.  Having lived in Miami for over 11 years, sometimes I miss the city vibe, a chilled martini, a cool breeze, and lounge music to set the scene. Parking was easy, you can use the valet and have your ticket stamped if you are eating at the Evoq.

If you want to catch the sunset, have a cocktail and a light bite, this may be your new place!
