The Everly Brothers

Phil Everly, Half of Pioneer Rock Duo “The Everly Brothers,” Dies at 74

| Sande Caplin |

I had to share a story about one of my favorite entertainment duo’s from the 1960’s!  Phil and Don Everly….”The Everly Brothers” have a very special place in my heart.  As stated in the New York Times today, “Yes, it’s true that Elvis is the King, Phil and Don Everly were its troubled Princes.”

Some of their songs- Wake Up Little Susie, Bye Bye Love, Cathy’s Clown, Crying In The Rain, Claudette, Let it be Me and the song that has a special place in my heart, All I have To Do is Dream.

Back in New Cassel Elementary School in Westbury,  New York,  I think it was 3rd or 4th grade, we had a “talent show.”  My best friend (who died in a drowning when we were Freshman in college) Eddie Arfin and I sang “All I Have To Do Is Dream.”  I can still remember shaking on the stage.  I think that some of my Westbury buddies might remember that show!  Eddie and I were “rock stars.”

Here’s the song…..
