New Steakhouse Chophouse285 Brings Old Florida Charm and Dry-Aged Steaks to Englewood This Fall

| Suncoast Post Staff |

A fresh culinary experience is coming to historic Dearborn Street this fall. Chophouse285, a new upscale steakhouse from seasoned local restaurateurs Keith and Laurie Farlow, is set to open at 285 West Dearborn Street—offering premium dry-aged steaks, island-inspired flavors, and Southern hospitality in a setting that celebrates Englewood’s Old Florida character.

Best known as the owners of the beloved Farlow’s on the Water, the Farlows have been part of the South Sarasota County dining scene for over two decades. Their latest venture blends fine dining with a down-to-earth feel, designed to welcome locals and visitors alike.

“We’re building on the relationships and roots we’ve developed in this community,” said Laurie Farlow. “With Chophouse285, we want to give Englewood a top-tier steakhouse that still feels like home.”

At the heart of the experience is a rare on-site dry-aging room, a standout feature even among high-end steakhouses. Leading the kitchen is Executive Chef Austin Davis, who will prepare hand-selected cuts on a custom wood grill designed by Dutch artisan Chris Demant. Guests can expect rich, perfectly seared steaks and a refined menu that blends classic steakhouse fare with Caribbean and Southern influences—reflecting Keith’s upbringing in St. Croix and Laurie’s Kentucky roots.

Chophouse285’s ambiance will reflect the building’s historic charm, honoring the past while offering an inviting and modern dining experience. From the craftsmanship of the interiors to the personalized service, every detail is curated to reflect warmth, excellence, and a sense of place.

The restaurant is currently in development with an anticipated opening in Fall 2025. When complete, it will join the growing culinary scene along West Dearborn Street, adding to Englewood’s appeal as a Gulf Coast dining destination.
