Maurizio Colucci, Primo-Ristorante

I have been dining at Primo Ristorante in Sarasota, Florida for many years.  When I walk into Primo whether it be myself, with friends or family, owner, Maurizio Colucci, Manager, Afaf Hanna-Fortune and every staff member in the restaurant greet me with open arms and make me and my guests feel very special.

Last night I had some dear friends in town, Chris and Don Dehoff.  Folks that I have know for 44 years….Rochester, NY.  We watched Super Bowl 3 together the only win for the NY Jets, went through Vietnam War protests, tried every trick we knew to purchase rolling paper and more.

We had a fabulous dinner, as always last night.  Great food and drink.  Maurizio was at a meeting.  He arrived at the restaurant just as we finished eating.  As soon as he saw me, he sat down at our table, introduced himself to my friends and started telling them stories like only Maurizio can tell a story!

Nine years ago today, Maurizio lost his lovely wife to cancer.  She was 42 years old.  He told us the entire story.  Most touching is how he has raised his 3 wonderful boys who are now young men.  We were mesmerized as he told us stories about his mom, dad and family in Italy.    

Thank you Maurizio for sharing with my friends.  My thoughts and prayers are with you today. I am sure it is difficult for you and the boys.
