Jose’s Real Cuban Food is About Much More Than Good Eats……

Jose Baserva was only an infant when he and his family escaped from Cuba in 1954, after the Cuban Revolution. They settled in Miami in a family atmosphere where deep Cuban traditions were preserved. Jose spent hours in the kitchen helping his Mom prepare Authentic Cuban dishes, using the very same recipes that had been passed down through generations and are used in the restaurant today. These are recipes with lots of love and history behind them, and once you taste Jose’s food you’ll be hooked.

Jose's Featured On Diners, Drive-Ins & DivesJose was a businessman in Miami for many years before he decided to relocate to Bradenton and open his own restaurant. It was a natural decision for him because he had grown up at his mother’s knee, helping to cook and learn the importance of keeping traditions in place.

Jose’s restaurant has a reputation for being a fun place where the workers excel at customer service and where Jose, himself, mingles and checks on the guests. In fact, there’s actually an episode on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives that was filmed in the restaurant with Guy Fieri, the host of the show.

It doesn’t really matter what you order when eating at Jose’s. I have never had anything from his menu that wasn’t a superb layering of flavors and blending of Cuban spices. You can count on everything being made by hand, no shortcuts or substitutes. Jose Baserva has a pride and a sense of responsibility that you don’t run across every day in the restaurant business. On his website, you’ll find scores of thank-you notes and letters, complimenting Jose on the cuisine and praising the staff and laid-back atmosphere. Jose’s restaurant is nothing fancy…folks don’t come from all over the country to experience “fancy”…they come for the delicious authenticity of every homemade dish, as well as an upbeat atmosphere.

When you’re in the Bradenton / Sarasota area, steer your car towards Jose’s at 8799 Cortez Road West, or call the restaurant at: 941-795-4898, but you can’t leave the area without having the Jose’s experience! The house specialty is “Lechon Asado”, which, like all the menu selections, Jose prepares from scratch. His black bean soup with rice is also unbelievable. Catering is available for weddings, social events, and parties. “LIKE” Jose’s on Facebook, as well. You will be instantly hooked!
