Sarasota Post Photo
If you haven’t been to Burgundy Square Café in downtown Venice, you should do yourself a favor and go. The ambiance and character of the building and courtyard combined with its prime downtown location is just the icing on the cake of their dynamic and soul-satisfying menu.
Burgundy Square Café is open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. An interesting menu featuring classic diner fare with a twist is sure to please even the most discerning palate. The breakfast menu comes complete with mile-high fluffy pancakes and interesting omelets and egg dishes. Lobster and crab benedict ramp things up a bit and lobster is a recurring theme on the lunch and dinner menus where the hugely popular lobster rolls take center stage. Other dishes include fresh flaky fish-and-chips, steak-topped salad with hearty pieces of bleu cheese and homemade ranch dressing. Huge portions of thick sliced meatloaf, enough for an army, with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy and burgers as high and thick as you’ve seen will not leave you disappointed. If you’ve saved room for dessert, you can’t go wrong with rich and creamy coconut cream pie or a peanut butter and chocolate ganache cake.
Apart from the delicious food, Burgundy Square Café is located in a charming building just off of Miami Avenue. A quaint courtyard is set with tables for diners of the Burgundy Square Café. You’re welcome to dine with your pet in the outside area which is always a plus for animal lovers. The inside of the restaurant is adorned with high ceilings and arched windows that give it a historic flair, and the dining room is one large spacious area that is neatly arranged and bright and clean. After a great meal, satisfied diners like to browse the artsy gift shops that are also located in the building, and then you’re perfectly positioned to take in the lovely sights and sounds of downtown Venice.
