Blasé Southern Style in Southside Village re-opens October 8 with a new comfort food focus
Change is in the air with the onset of season and Blasé Bistro on Hillview Street is also evolving, with a new name, Blasé Southern Style and comfort food menu focus for its reopening on Oct. 8, 2020.

Chef Robby Clark, who also leads the culinary team for Siesta Key sister restaurants Blasé Café & Martini Bar, 3.14 Pi Pizza and now Blasé Southern Style, created the new themed menu. The menu evolved from his Hillview resident outreach, asking diners what kind of restaurant and food they would like to see in Sarasota. An overwhelming majority embraced the southern comfort food concept. It was an ideal fit for Clark, who before coming to Sarasota, worked at notable and award-winning restaurants, on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, and owned and operated Sassafras restaurant in Virginia, ranked among the top 50 best restaurants and among the top 50 best chefs in the early 2000s.
“We’re excited to bring casual southern cuisine to Southside Village, with its familiar comfort food feel while offering the same excellent food and service as before,” said Kevin Skiest, co-owner. “We want to leave behind the pain that COVID-19 brought to us, our industry and many local residents and visitors with a fresh start,” Skiest added.
Highlights of Blasé Southern Style’s new menu, include starters such as Brûléed Goat Cheese, Black Eye Pea Hummus, Baked Oysters and Crispy Ribs. Soups and salads range from Roasted Pumpkin Bisque and Cape Hatteras Clam Chowder to Baby Spinach Salad with Fresh Berries, Goat Cheese and Lemon Poppy Seed Dressing to a Southern Caesar with Shredded Cheddar, Sundried Tomatoes and Cornbread Croutons.

For entrées, options range from Seared Crab Cake with Bay Scallop Succotash to Dried Cherry and Caramelized Onion Stuffed Roasted Pork Loin with Bourbon Glaze and Dijon Cream, Gumbo Style Mac & Cheese, Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Honey Mustard Drizzle to Mushroom Ragout and Goat Cheese Grits to Shrimp & Grits and Grilled New York Strip and Roasted Garlic.
A series of handhelds are also available, including Black Angus and Plant Based Burgers to Fried Catfish, Pulled Duck and Country Fried Steak. For an end of evening sweet treat, there’s Chocolate Butter Cake, Bourbon Pecan Pie, Peach Cobbler and Pumpkin Roll. Menu prices range from $6-$25.

About Blasé Southern Style
Owned and operated by partners Cynthia Breslin and Kevin Skiest, Blasé Southern Style offers a creative twist on Southern style comfort food. It is the second restaurant to open under the Blasé name, the first being the 22+ year Blasé Café & Martini Bar on Siesta Key, opened by Breslin in 1997, which grew from one table in one space to what is now a 100-seat restaurant with three bars and the adjacent pizza and craft beer restaurant, 3.14 Pi Pizza, which opened in 2016. Partner Kevin Skiest, a real estate and business investor, joined the Blasé family in 2016 to help re-organize and re-energize the business.
