A Fabulous BBQ Restaurant in Sarasota is Closing
Sad news in the restaurant business. A fabulous barbecue restaurant in Sarasota is closing.
Nancy Krohngold is famous for her Nancy’s BBQ restaurants, in Sarasota and Manatee counties for almost twenty years. She opened a new restaurant in August in Sarasota.
The restaurant is located at 1525 Fourth St. in downtown Sarasota’s Rosemary District. Over the years, this building has had different restaurants, but unfortunately, Nancy’s BBQ will also close down because it couldn’t attract enough customers in the Rosemary District.
Nancy’s Bar BBQ will permanently close on Saturday, January 6th, at 9 p.m. For the last few days, you can visit Nancy’s between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. If you want to order catering, you can call Nancy’s at 941-955-3400 for pickup on Friday or Saturday. Nancy might continue her catering business because it’s doing well, but it’s not enough to keep the restaurant open.
Nancy posted a message on her restaurant’s social media Facebook page, saying thank you for supporting her Barbeque journey since 2006. She’s grateful to have met and cooked for all her customers.
Nancy’s BBQ used to be in Lakewood Ranch at Lorraine Corners, but it closed in July because they couldn’t renew the lease. The first Nancy’s opened in downtown Sarasota in 2011, and it was successful for about ten years before closing in 2020 because the property was sold, and the lease ended.
Nancy gave some reasons why her restaurant couldn’t make it in the Rosemary District. She said it’s not exactly in downtown Sarasota, there were parking misunderstandings, more people work from home now, and running a restaurant has become more expensive. (quote from social media)
She thought that reopening in downtown Sarasota would be a big success, but it didn’t work out that way. Many people congratulated her on the move and thanked her for returning downtown, but not enough people came in to keep the restaurant running.
Many other businesses have also failed in the same location in the Rosemary District. Oasis Restaurant & Bar closed in May, and before that, it was Catrinas Tacos & Tequila Bar, Salsas & Boogaloo, Servandos and Darwins on 4th.
