Weston Hermann Drive-By Fundraiser leads in the virtual Dick Vitale Gala
As a lead into the V Foundation for Cancer Research, a top-rated cancer research charity, and ESPN Hall of Fame Sportscaster Dick Vitale’s now virtual Dick Vitale Gala, the Weston Hermann Drive-By Fundraiser will be held on Sept. 4, 2020.
The Weston Hermann Drive-By Fundraiser
Weston Hermann is 12 years old and was diagnosed with brain cancer and had extensive surgery and chemotherapy. Weston recently had a relapse of his cancer and will have to undergo, for the fourth time, painful chemotherapy. Weston is an avid ice hockey player.
The Hermann family and their neighbors are hosting a drive-by fundraiser 4-6 p.m. Sept. 4, 2020. They hope to line the Lake Club Clubhouse driveway with over 100 signs, purchased through donations by businesses and individuals, showing the support of the community. A business may obtain a sign for a donation of $500. An individual may purchase one for $200. All proceeds will benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research, an organization for which resident and Hall of Fame ESPN College Basketball Analyst, Dick Vitale, raises awareness and funds through his many events, including the annual Dick Vitale which he hosts in Sarasota. Weston is one of Dick Vitale’s “All Courageous Team.” Weston and his family are strong supporters of Dick Vitale’s mission, helping to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research.
Please drive by, honk, donate and wave during the Hermann Family Drive-by fundraiser 4-6 p.m. at the Lake Club Clubhouse, 15804 Clearlake Avenue, Lakewood Ranch, for Weston Hermann!

The Dick Vitale Virtual Gala
Registration for the virtual Dick Vitale Gala is now open and will take place on Sept. 4, 2020 as a virtual event.
Vitale is a true champion for pediatric cancer research, raising nearly $30 million to date for the pediatric fund in his name at the V Foundation. This year’s event will honor Gonzaga University Men’s Basketball Head Coach Mark Few, ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians.
In addition to honoring his All Courageous Team of cancer patients, Vitale will recognize two special guests with the 2020 John Saunders V Foundation Courage Award. Pat Williams, basketball Hall of Famer, co-founder of the NBA’s Orlando Magic and former general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers, and NFL Hall of Famer Jim Kelly will be this year’s honorees. Best-selling Mitch Albom will be a special guest at the event.
