The Starlight Singers Memorial Day Weekend Variety Show Benefits First Responders

| Sande Caplin |

Sarasota, FL – The month of May celebrates and recognizes Fire, EMS, Police and Military personnel who risk life and limb to keep our communities and nation safe.  The Starlight Singers, a Sarasota-based troupe of entertainers, will honor first responders and entertain the public at their May 26, 2018 benefit show. All donations and proceeds from ticket and concession sales will be donated to the U.S. First Responders Association who will purchase and donate pet oxygen masks and K-9 ballistic vests to help Sarasota-area emergency officials save pet and K9 lives.

Who: The Starlight Singers (a Sarasota Florida based group of entertainers) and the U.S. First Responders Association (a Florida based nonprofit)

What: The Memorial Day Weekend First Responders Benefit, organized by The Starlight Singers, is an event designed to raise funds and awareness to help equip Sarasota-area Fire and Police departments with pet oxygen masks and protective K9 vests.

Each year many pets die of smoke asphyxiation due to house fires. Although firefighters attempt to get pets safely out of burning structures, often they are not able to revive them unless they have the proper equipment – pet oxygen masks. These specially-designed masks can be used on conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and animals that need to be resuscitated after exposure to toxic fumes. Proceeds and donations will help USFRA equip area fire departments with pet oxygen masks.

A recent GoFundMe campaign outfitted the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office six K-9s with protective armor in just a matter of days, but there are still some area police dogs that need ballistic vests. Event proceeds and donations can help some local K9s be as safe as their human counterparts.

Tickets are available for $10 online at www.thestarlightsingers.com/CurrentEvent with all proceeds benefiting local first responders, and children under 12 are admitted for free with parent or guardian. First responders (Fire, EMS, Police and Military personnel) can attend the show for free as a thank you for their service, and USFRA will provide a special link and password to interested responders.

When: Saturday, May 26, 2018, 7p – 10p ET

Where: Sun N Fun RV Resort 7125 Fruitville Rd Sarasota FL 34240
