Swordfish Grill & Tiki Hosts “Giving Back” Benefit for Charlee & Nova on October 20

Cortez, FL – On Sunday, October 20, 2025, the community is invited to come together for a heartwarming and powerful evening of music, compassion, and unity at the Swordfish Grill and Tiki in Cortez, Florida. The event, titled “Giving Back: A Night for Charlee & Nova,” is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for two young sisters whose lives were forever changed last November when their mother was tragically killed by a drunk driver.

Charlee and Nova, bright, spirited young girls, lost their mother in a senseless tragedy that devastated the community. Now, the Suncoast region is stepping up to support their future — showing these girls that they are not alone.

The benefit will feature live music from local legends Kettle of Fish, one of the Suncoast’s most beloved bands known for their soulful blend of blues, rock, and roots music. They’ll be joined by special guest Tim “TC” Chandler, a fan favorite whose passion and talent have earned him a loyal following across the Suncoast.  We are proud to announce that Clancy’s Irish Sports Pub and 88 Live in Bradenton are the music sponsors for the event.

“This is more than just a concert,” says Sande Caplin, one of the event organizers and publisher of The Suncoast Post. “It’s about love, community, and healing. We’ve all been heartbroken by what happened to these girls. On October 20, we come together not just to raise money, but to lift them up emotionally and spiritually.”

The event will take place at the scenic Swordfish Grill & Tiki, located at 4628 119th St W, Cortez, FL 34215. The waterfront venue has long been a staple of the Cortez community and is known for hosting events with big heart and local flavor. Guests will enjoy the music, food, drinks, and a raffle and silent auction with items donated by generous local businesses.  The event is presented by The Swordfish Grill, Sande Caplin & Associates and The Suncoast Post.
