Oh What A Night!
Ladies Sing the Blues at Primo Ristorante!
Magical, exhilarating, humbling…..these are just a few of the words that come to my mind after attending “Ladies Sing the Blues” last night at Primo Ristorante. The singers and performers were a “who’s who” of lady blues singers in our area. Karen Greenley, Lani “C,” Savannah Brady (14 & the newest lady!), Meredith Garofalo, Gwen Fogt, Christine Berstling, Rebecca Bird, Karyn Denham, Lauren Mitchell, Carolyn Davis, Melanie Massell, Kara Nally, Syl Vee, Sudie Brattli, K Sue, Professor Michael Hensley & Musical Director, Steve Arvey put on a show that won’t be forgotten!
It was a “sold out” performance at Primo. The guest list and attendees were from all walks of life. It was great to see photographer extraordinaire, Mark Kracker. I am sure he will have lot’s of photos to share. Henry Lawrence was in the crowd as was “Go Tonight’s” Don McKeon and his lovely lady Joni, and Ron & Mary Unger of IBE. Paul Marron never stopped the entire night taking video and photos! Other attendees were Pastor John and his wonderful wife Ruth, lot’s of friends like Kelly and Samantha, Suzanne. Randy, Phil the Hat, Kathy,…………… Did I miss anyone?…I am sure I did. It was great to see Michael Dempsey, “Step,” Jimi Gee and so many other talented musicians donating their time on stage.
The event sponsored by Leslie SRQ Productions, The Flying Dog Cafe, Sarasotapost.com and Sande Caplin & Associates raised a great deal of money for the American Business Woman’s Association. It will help to provide college scholarships for local woman. 100% of the proceeds from the door and raffle sales went to the charity. No administrative expenses were taken from the proceeds…..now that’s saying something!
After over 5 hours of great entertainment, the evening closed with presentations of flowers to all of the performers and some awesome photo shots. Watch this website for some great photos in the near future and also check out video and photos on “Leslie SRQ.” Congratulations ladies, congratulations to the sponsors, to Afaf, Maurizio and the entire staff of Primo Ristorante and everyone else associated with the event. Laurie Mirkin & Leslie SRQ- You ladies showed how professional you are. Leslie was a phenominal MC! …….oh what a night! And now, it’s Sarasota Film Festival Time!
