For Pete's Sake

Sunday, August 4, 2013 was a very special day in Sarasota, Florida.  Hundreds of wonderful people from all walks of life came out to JR’s Old Packinghouse Café to support Pete Arevalo, FOR PETE’S SAKE.   Pete is a musician and an owner of Spirit Ranch Recording Studio.  He is well known for being a part of Acoustic Pete Blues Trio and Swamp Grass.  Pete is a giver….always supporting folks and hosting benefit shows for people in need.  Pete is battling back from oral cancer and this wonderful benefit helped to pay some of the medical bills he has incurred and go towards lost income for Pete.  A lot of money was raised for Pete.

The line up of local musicians who came out to play and support Pete was absolutely awesome.  It was a “who’s who” of musical talent in our area.   Twinkle, The Pete ArevaloLauren Mitchell Band, Kettle of Fish, RJ Howson Band, Mumbo Jumbo, Skylab, Florida Mountain Boys, Bottom Feeders, Diana Catherine Oakley, Not Tuna, Ari McManus & Nicolaas Kraster, The Mighty Orca, John Howard & Friends and the Leptons put on a phenomenal seven hour show!

The entire staff at JR’s donated their time to support this great event. I have never met a friendlier group of folks than everyone who works at JR’s…..you guys are the best.   The bar was rocking all day and into the evening.  Congrats to the guys and gals working the bars.  You did a great job.  The place was packed!   And the food!  Wow, the BBQ lunch / dinner put together by David Tracy (Randy Tracy’s son) donated all the meat, Jimmy Plank cooked all the meat and beans and Cathy Tracy cooked all the potato salad was the best!  The “All You Can Eat Buffet was fantastic.  They had great BBQ pork, chicken, baked beans, potato salad and so much more.

JR's Old Packing House CafeThe “love” and “support” was overwhelming.  So many friends of Pete attended.  The hugging never stopped throughout the day.   Some of the quotes throughout the day and from Facebook:  Daniel Jake Likins“There comes a time in ALL of our lives when we need someone to Stand By Us. So TODAY for Acoustic Pete Arevalo we gather to Stand By Him @ The Old Packinghouse Café.”   Lauren Mitchell….. “What a beautiful day. So blessed to have been a part of Pete Arevalo’s benefit. Glad I was able to give back to a man who has given so much to me, and the music community in Sarasota. God Bless Pete & get well. We love yah!”  Mark Kracker…… “I’m not sure I can put into words how special today was here in Sarasota. I know that I will be able to share some really unique shots from the For Pete’s Sake benefit.”  RJ Howson…. “Had an awesome time at the Benefit for Pete Arevalo !!! The Arevalo family rocks !!!
