Cadence Bank Supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast- Manatee County

| Laura Bell Adams |

Cadence Bank is one of the Executive Chef  Sponsors of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast annual Chef’s Cooking for Kids fundraiser. The event on June 7th from 6 to 9pm at IMG Golf and Country Club features music by The Billy Rice Band, delicious culinary samplings from 18 local Chefs and restaurants around Manatee and Sarasota County. Not to mention great silent and live auction items. All proceeds will go to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast one-to-one mentoring programs.

We reached out to Cadence Bank to find out a little bit about them and why they are a part of the Chef’s Cooking for Kids event. We had the opportunity to ask Fermin Miranda (JJ) of Cadence Bank, the  SVP Business Banker in their Bradenton Branch a few questions.

Tells us why you are a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast  Chef’s Cooking for Kids event and how many years have you been involved with the event?

I have been involved over 10 years. I have served as Corporate Board Chair, Manatee County Chair, and Chair of the National Hispanic Advisory Council. This event celebrates local chef’s and in doing so it also benefits a great organization.

Why do you believe it is important, as a Bank, to be involved with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast?

At Cadence, we believe it’s our responsibility to contribute to the betterment of the communities we serve. We have a shared interest in improving local prosperity, and the economic self-sufficiency, education, health and well-being of our community members.

Did you have or do you have a mentor that has helped you in life?

I was lucky as my mentor was my grandfather. With only a 6th grade education he had to go to work to help his mom and siblings. He worked at the same company for over 50 years and left as chief engineer of one of Puerto Rico’s largest rum making distillery. He showed me the value of overcoming obstacles and working hard.

Please give us your website address so people will be able to go to your website to learn about all of your services.
